One of the most unbelievable photos I have ever seen!

Do you remember, ladies, what this felt like? There is nothing in the world like it. I feel really bad for men that they never will experience what we do. Thank you, Danna, for sending me this photo.

My political analysis. This surprised me a bit.

You are a

Social Liberal
(60% permissive)

and an...

Economic Conservative
(60% permissive)

You are best described as a:

Centrist

This did surprise me a bit, but I also thought that some of the questions set you up to score more liberally than you might be. I especially disagree with their personality collage about O'Reilly being a fascist!! He is more central than I am. Whatever.

What a little beauty! What a little gem! I just love this child. She is the light of my life. There is a brilliance and a warmth that radiates from her. It is hard not to melt at her gaze and blush at her constant affections. She has many nicknames...Dolly Toots, Sweetie petitie, Sunshine Flashlight, Rae Rae...We all just love her and wish her the happiest birthday ever! If you have a message for RaeElise, please leave it here and I will read them to her.

Our new family member

This is our gateway to memory lane. Blake has been wanting a turntable for so long, we finally welcomed one into our lives today. It is so cool. Blake wants to have a party where everyone brings a record (you can buy them cheap at Value Village). Anyone game?

My Auntie M

My Auntie came by today to hang out with the kids and me while we did school. It was quite a treat!

My Beautiful Sister Amy turns 33!

Amy, you are amazing, beautiful, brilliant, and so full of love! I am proud to be your sister, to know you so well, to be the one you call when you need help, to be the one you call when you are happy. I cherish our childhood memories, our young adult adventures, and our times now as mothers of little angels and wives of princes. You are always honest with me, always in my court, faithful and loyal and strong. Thank you for being so genuine. There is no one like you. Happy Birthday, Amers...You deserve all that is good.

Update on Jolene and Baby

Jolene told me that she had another ultra-sound last week to check on the size of the baby's sack, it appeared a bit large last time. Well, all checks out ok. The sack no longer appears too large, but they want her in for another ultra-sound this week to keep a close eye on things. Jolene has been referred to a new doctor who is keeping a great eye on her. All is going really well, but she has the ickies....So sorry, Jo! Unfortunately it goes with the territory! Please keep her and little one in your prayers. And Jolene, rest, rest, rest!!! Put those boys to work! We love you!

Happy Birthday, Dad!

Dad, there is no one like you. Today is the day that you entered this world, I rejoice and celebrate that God placed you in our lives. You touch the lives of so many people, you don't even realize the great love that others have for you. You have such a great sense of humor, who else would crack up at the number 11? Thank you for being such a caring and loving father. Growing up in your love was a wonderful place to start my life. Love you so much!

Oh Garden, My Garden

Oh garden, my garden
How brightly you shine
I plant a seed, a tuber, a bulb
But to your growth, I am blind
~~
It must be the Maker
Who meets you under the sod
For only his hand creates
Beauty that mirrors the heart of God

Minnie Mouse (Guest appearance for Tawni)

Tawni was upset that Minnie Mouse, our dog, formerly her dog, was not featured in my family shot that I was ooing and gooing over a couple of posts ago. So, Tawni, here she is, in all her glory. Enjoy. At least you can't smell her.

Boy at the Sea

Grandma Jodie took this sweet photo of Riley on Whidbey Island. I used my software to make it look like an impressionist painting. Click on the photo to see the full size, it is really something! How is everyone doing this week? Ready to make a difference in those around you? Or are you feeling a little blue, maybe even visiting the land of self-pity? I always find that the best remedy for this has two parts: First, I tell my husband and my children that my love tank is a little low, requesting that they fill it up with extra attention. Second, I try to do something for someone else. I look beyond my own little troubles and use my skills and talents and listening ear, lending to another and in no time at all, it seems, I am transported out of my funk and into a place that is so sweet.

Rebecca's wildest dream come true

Today, Rebecca is flying out into the great blue yonder with her generous grandparents. And where is she going? DISNEYLAND!!!! Oh my goodness, that is right, folks, the ultimate dream come true for anyone under 5 feet tall. Her Papa had a business trip planned and Grandma Jodie decided it would be a great opportunity to bond with her oldest granddaughter. Our hearts are with them and I can't quite wait for the narration on this one! I just told her to not return with "the big head". She won't. But she will return feeling like the special, amazing girl she is. Good for you, Becca, good for you. May all your dreams come true, in life, as this one has!

Julie's Garden tour

Herbs, Marigolds and cantaloupe
My Homegrown Kids, Sunflowers, and tomatoes
My raised garden
A Days harvest of carrots, zucchini, tomatoes, yellow pear tomatoes, pepperincini
Cantaloupe
Well, I tried my hand at my first veggie garden this summer. I had some disappointments, but I had a lot of successes, too! There is nothing like eating veggies you have grown yourself...What a miracle to see it all come up from seed or small plantings. My faith has been renewed in a whole new way.

Google me somemore!

Since the google talk was getting out of hand the other day on the post of Jolene's baby, I found this sight I thought you might like: http://www.zefrank.com/goog1/index.html Just click, drag and drop.

The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe

Well, Blake will be the Lion of the family, roaring that this house needs a bit of order and an atmosphere of peace, the wardrobe would be our new creation to help accomplish this dream of domestic utopia, and I would be the witch, yes, the wicked(at least vocally) witch of the wardrobe to make sure that this room stays in order and functions as beautifully as we have designed! Now all the kids' clothes are in one room, including one set of hampers, in which the children can pre-sort the laundry for me! There is also a wonderful table for me to fold these clothes and the mess and the mayhem that comes with 5 children and all their clothing...Clean or dirty.

***********************************
Yipppeeee! It will be a dream! And their rooms will be so much easier to handle. I guess we are putting our I.Q.s to work for us! To accomplish this feat, we moved Reese to the girl's room, where they are enjoying playing little mommies to him. We also moved Riley upstairs to bunk in with Reuben. Blake drilled his twin bed up high and created a loft bed for him. His bed is now the envy of all, which is perfect for the boy-in-the-middle who always seems to be overshadowed by his older two siblings.

The Piggys won our hearts...

At the Evergreen State Fair yesterday, the piglets were the hit of the show for my kids. We took our sketch pads and our nature handbook and we sketched sows, gilts, and boars. Even mom learned what these different names meant and she grew up pretty close to the country! We learned how they mark the ears when they are born, and we also learned that pigs are the 4th smartest animal on the planet!! Go figure! It seems that we could have found much better things to do with these brilliant creatures than eat them! Anyway, we are on our second week of homeschool bliss and I just wanted to share with you one of our first field trips! We also proved that you can go to the fair and have fun even if you don't buy an all day ride bracelet.

The Newest Woodward (PWO celebrity profile)

Jolene had her ultra-sound yesterday and she reports seeing a sweet, tiny, heart-beatting little 6 week babe. Can you all believe it??? Prayers, rest, and TLC for mommy and baby!!!!

Letterboxing 101

A fellow AmblesideOnline Mom sent me a link that, I believe, is going to change my family's life. www.letterboxing.org This is a fun and inexpensive hobby that you can do on your own or with your whole family. You start with creating your own stamp. Draw it out, buy the needed materials (see website) and get to creating. Today the kids, Blake and I made unique stamps. It was a lot easier than I thought. Then you buy a waterproof box, some baggies, and get ready for a grand adventure. You hide the box, leave clues for other's to find it, they stamp a book you leave inside your box, and then use your stamp to stamp their book! So much fun! If you don't want to place a box, just have fun making a stamp and hunting other boxes down. As I write this, Blake and the three oldest are out hunting a box...Our first letterbox hunt. We are so excited!
